EGG – did you know St Augustine described Christ emerging from the Tomb as a chick emerging from an egg shell?   In the Christian East the egg plays a central part in the celebration of Pascha (
Easter
).   Eggs were eaten after every toast (with Vodka) to Christ’s Resurrection.  Among the many traditions are for women to wear miniature enamel eggs given to them by loved ones (with the Greeting – “Christ Is Risen!) and worn for the 40 days of Pascha.
