    This is a rare June 27th, 1955 playbill (with a rare replacement insert) from the Original Broadway production of the WILLIAM INGE play "BUS STOP" which played the Music Box Theatre in New York City. (The production opened March 2nd, 1955 and ran for 478 performances.) ..... The Pulitzer Prize winning play starred TAMMY GRIMES, who was making her Broadway debut as the understudy for KIM STANLEY in the role of "Cherie" (played by MARILYN MONROE in the motion picture released the following year) and featured ANTHONY ROSS, ELAINE STRITCH, ALBERT SALMI, PHYLLIS LOVE, PATRICK McVEY, LOU POLAN and CRAHAN DENTON ..... CREDITS: Book by WILLIAM INGE (the Academy Award and Pulitzer Prize winning playwright commited suicide in 1973); Sets designed by BORIS ARONSON; Costumes designed by PAUL MORRISON; Directed by HAROLD CLURMAN; Produced by ROBERT WHITEHEAD and ROGER L. STEVENS ..... DETAILS: The 30 page playbill measures 6 1/2" X 9" inches and includes full production credits, cast list, synopsis of scenes, bios of each of the leading actors and the playwright and wonderful vintage advertising, but no cast photos. Includes a rare replacement insert noting that TAMMIE (sic) GRIMES would be playing the role of "Cherie" (last scanned image) ..... CONDITION: This playbill is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any theatre aficionado or historian.
