Scottie Dog Barrette, TILCO, ca. 1950s

Description

This adorable little Scottie dog barrette dates to the 1950s or slightly earlier. It is made of a celluloid-like molded plastic with a painted eye. The color reads as a rich, dark brown but it's a deep cherry amber that glows beautifully when held to the light. The barrette is petite, originally made for child, measuring about 1 1/4" x 1". The name "TILCO" is molded on the back. TILCO was a U.S. company that made a variety of "kiddie" barrettes and hair combs.
Condition is excellent with no major issues to note. The plastic is in fine shape with just minimal surface wear on the back. The clip hardware functions perfectly.
