    Description

RedBot Sensor - Wheel Encoder Kit: 8-pole Magnets, Hall-Effect
    ROB-12629
The RedBot Wheel Encoder Kit is an add-on for the
    RedBot Mainboard
    ,
    RedBot Kit
or other robotics platforms. It allows you to track the number of revolutions each wheel has made.
This simple encoder kit from DAGU consists of two neodymium 8-pole magnets with rubber hubs and two Hall-effect sensors terminated with 150mm cable and 3-pin female servo headers.
The magnets have four North poles and four South poles and are strong enough that the sensor can detect the poles from more than 3mm away. This means that the sensors do not have to be precisely mounted to detect the poles. The rubber hubs will fit over most small motor and drive shafts used in low-power gearboxes. You may use a small screw to attach the magnets in some applications.
The Hall-effect sensors will work on voltages from 3V to 24V and include reverse-polarity protection. The open-drain output, when fitted with an external pull-up resistor, will drive any logic circuit from 3V to 24V, and also can drive an LED or other small load less than 25mA.
These sensors can plug directly into any DAGU, Arduino-compatible controller and use the processor's internal pull-up resistors, eliminating the need for any external components or wiring.
