Tipped on to the poster at the left margin is a newspaper clipping, probably from the New Haven Register published on September 26th, 1966.

"Belafonte Scores LBJ On Housing, Viet Nam Stands
Harry Belafonte sharply criticized President Johnson's Viet Nam policy and his handling of the open-housing civil rights bill Sunday. Belafonte gave a news conference and later a benefit concert at the New Haven Arena for Robert M. Cook, American Independent Movement candidate for Congress and Fred Harris, AIM candidate for state representative from the 106th district.  Belafonte said that the cost of the war cuts back the money which can be spent on education, urban development, and medical and scientific research. He said the war "has made many in government terribly irresponsible to the needs of Great Society programs". Belafonte said that civil rights activists should take an active interest in the Viet Nam conflict. Underprivileged Negro youths are more vulnerable to the draft than are white youths with better educational opportunities, he said. He claimed more Negro youths die in Viet Nam proportionately than do whites. Belafonte said that Johnson didn't support the 1966 civil rights bill vigorously enough. The bill died last Monday in the Senate. Belafonte's concert included a variety of styles from simple ballads to folk songs and civil rights songs He was joined by Miriam Makeba, a South African soprano, and the SNCC Freedom Singers."
Poster is in acceptable condition though it is lightly foxed, and has minor bends, creases and pin holes at the four corners.
