This is a rare "PLAYBILL" Magazine from the week of February 22nd, 1947 (Volume 15, No. 22) featuring MARION BELL on the front cover. She was one of the leading stars of the new ALAN JAY LERNER and FREDERICK LOEWE musical "BRIGADOON", which would begin tryout performances at the Forrest Theatre in Philadelphia on February 24th, 1947. (The production would open March 13th, 1947 at the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York City and run for 581 performances.) ..... The musical starred DAVID BROOKS, MARION BELL, PAMELA BRITTON, LEE SULLIVAN, GEORGE KEANE and WILLIAM HANSEN and featured ELLIOTT SULLIVAN, JAMES MITCHELL, MARGARET HUNTER, BUNTY KELLEY, EARL REDDING, EDWARD CULLEN, HAYES GORDON, VIRGINIA BOSLER and DELBERT ANDERSON ..... DETAILS: The 32 page "PLAYBILL" Magazine measures 7 1/2" X 10 3/4" inches and was the weekly Guide to Theatrical and Musical Entertainment, Films, Museums, Restaurants and Sports in Philadelphia and included reviews of new plays and the calendar for current theatre offerings. Among the current shows playing in Philadelphia were Jacques Deval's "BATHSHEBA" starring JAMES MASON (ad shown in the fourth scanned image) and Tennessee Williams' "THE GLASS MENAGERIE" starring PAULINE LORD. Also includes photos of BETTY GRABLE and DICK HAYMES, stars of the GEORGE GERSHWIN musical film "The Shocking Miss Pilgrim" (fifth scanned image) and JOHN GARFIELD and JOAN CRAWFORD, stars of the film "Humoresque" (last scanned image) ..... CONDITION: With the exception of minor surface and edge wear, this rare magazine is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any musical theatre aficionado or historian.
