What is the Kankara Sanshin? A musical instrument of peace that soothed the hearts of the people in the POW camps after the war. After the war, many sanshin were burnt down and lost, but after the war, in the POW camps, the neck was made of scrap wood from U.S. army field beds, the body was made from empty cans provided by the U.S. army, and the strings were made from parachute strings and telephone wires. It is an instrument of peace that reminds us of the origin of music, which is to "enjoy the sound. The neck is shorter than that of the sanshin, and it is very light (only 400g!), so you can keep it in your car for practicing the sanshin, or take it with you when you go out for a while.
The sanshin (sanshin, literally "three strings") is an Okinawan musical instrument and precursor of the mainland Japanese (and Amami Islands) shamisen. Often likened to a banjo, it consists of a snakeskin-covered body, neck and three strings.
