HAWAII WEDDING JEWELRY ~AMAZING  WHITE SEASHELL CROWN - IMITATES FLOWERS  ~ 1960S
The two rows of  white, fluted and ridged seashells are fitted together  to appear flower-like.  Spacing is achieved by the little coral color shells topped by a teeny brown shell.   The inside of the crown is so incredibly well done that it looks woven.    This apparently sits FLAT on top of the head, not across the forehead.  The is approximately 2 inches and the wall is about 1 inch thick.  There is nothing obvious to help it balance on the head, so perhaps the wearer sat in a chair-throne.  In excellent condition, no shells missing..
Purchased almost 20 years ago from a woman who had been a military nurse.  She said this, and a shell lei necklace  were wedding jewelry from the 1960s,  borne out by the fact that the necklace  is in a plastic bag from Kahala Hilton, which opened about then.
Perfect for a beach wedding, whether worn by man or woman, or exchanged.
