FINE 19TH CENTURY ENGRAVED BONE TRIPTYCH OF THE INMACULATED VIRGIN
The triptych is engraved on bone, which is mounted on a wooden frame with hinges. In the form of a chapel, the triptych opens outwards to show three pictorial panels - a large central panel and two narrower side panels, all of which are bordered by a layered pattern of engraved scrolling. The central panel is the largest and represents to the Immaculate Virgin over a city, protecting it. In the side panels, musical allegorical figures, at the bottom of each of them a flower.
