I don't sell anything new and most of the items I sell are really old - often 100 years old or more - and will show signs of age and handling such as light scratches, dents, scuffs, and soiling. As you can see from my listings I sell a wide variety of old things and while I've done my best to note in this condition description any aspect of condition that I think will materially effect the value of the item I am no expert so if you know of anything specific I should be looking for that I have not addressed here be sure and point it out to me before bidding. Please review the pictures carefully as they are an important part of the condition description and you may notice something I've overlooked. After doing so should you have any questions about condition please give me the opportunity to answer and share them before you bid or buy.

    Description

Here is an authentic antique Pima coiled basketry bowl decorated with an antelope motif.  It shows four antelope images inside and out.  The diameter is about 7 3/4" and the rim is about 3 7/8" high. There are 12 or 13 stitches per inch.  I'm not knowledgeable enough to try and accurately date this but it has several signs of considerable age and use and the fine quality and authentic motif do not appear to be typical of something made for sale to tourists.  If I had to guess I would say  certainly pre-1935.
This is one of several southwestern native pieces dating from the early 1900s into the 1950s I have listed.

All were purchased some twenty years ago from a Caucasian woman whose parents had inherited them from a Hopi woman they became close with over a long period living and working on the reservation.   I've enjoyed them very much but will soon no longer have the space required to do them justice so am ready to find new caretakers for these wonderful artworks.
