    Description

    Antique Thomson River Salish basket, bundle coiled and sewn by hand, imbricated with cherry bark and grass, the weaver has placed the beige grass in the horizontal bands of cherry, so that they also create vertical beige designs, 19thC British Columbia, Canada, some missing weavers, portions of the rim are missing, it is still a very sturdy basket with an exceptionally beautiful patina, the deep rich color that only time can create, there are examples of round footed flaring baskets identified as Thompson River Salish in the Smithsonian, see especially catalog numbers 18/4530 and 15/4425, the approximate size is 7 inches wide x 3 inches tall, #3156
