Beautiful Antique Russian Orthodox Kiyot (kee-yot) icon, “Theotokis of Seven Swords”, 19 C.Antique Russian Orthodox Kiyot (kee-yot) icon, “Theotokis of Seven Swords”, 19 C, with hand painted white dove at top of Icon.
Icon is hand painted with egg tempera on wood panel covered with gesso. Silver leaf traditional icon, e
nclosed in dark veneer wood and glass case, original old glazing, to protect precious icon from candle and incense smoke. Hand carved painted decorations surrounding the Icon. Hanging bail at top of box, with clasp and hinge on box sides.
Measurements of Icon Box: 7X9X2.5 inches. Icon: 4X5X1.5 inches.
Province Yaroslav (Western Imperial Russia).
Condition: Good. Some damage to Veneer.
Top hinge is broken , but still closes tight.
