A finely woven, antique NW Coast Tlingit lidded basket. This basket style is sometimes referred to as a Rattle Top, this top does not rattle however, it appears to of have lost the rattle 'ball'.
Presumably Tlingit dating to the 19th century.
A great object for study or display, this will make a nice addition to any student or appreciators collection of Native American art and artifacts.
Fair condition.  Lid has significant damage and some missing weave, including significant detachment around the rim, as well as the handle of the lid - see images. A small detached piece of the baskets rim will be included for possible restoration or stabilization. Two minor tears in the base, but overall good condition. Exhibits signs of age such as surface wear and weathering. As they are part of the description, please enlarge all photographs to better ascertain details and condition.
