Note: This Boosterpack has male headers at the bottom side and is intended to by plugged into a TI MSP430 Launchpad with female headers soldered on. After shipping about 100k launchpads with no headers mounted (both male and female headers were included for you to solder on yourself), TI began shipping the MSP430 launchpad with MALE headers soldered in place. This Boosterpack will not be usable with launchpads that have male headers mounted. So before ordering, verify that your MSP430 Launchpad has female headers.
MSP430-LED8x8 BOOSTERPACK is an add-on board for the MSP-EXP430G2 LaunchPad from Texas Instruments, or a system of your own that shares the same extension pinout. The MSP430-LED8x8 BOOSTERPACK has an 8×8 Red LED Matrix on which you can display captions or rudimentary pictures. If you want to create longer captions, you can extend the display by connecting additional
MOD-LED8x8
boards to it. This board also has a microphone for detecting sounds and a buzzer for playing sounds, so you can create an interactive display.
Compatibility with Stellaris LaunchPad
The TI Stellaris LM4F120 LaunchPad has dual-gender headers that are meant to provide compatibility with MSP430 BoosterPack devices such as this LED board. This means you should be able to use this board on the Stellaris LaunchPad. This has not been tested yet. If you try it, let us know how it goes!
