1967 Austin Healey 3000 Mk III
(Please note: If you happen to be viewing this 1967 Austin-Healey 3000 Mark III on a website other than our Garage Kept Motors site, it's possible that you've only seen some of our many photographs of this vehicle due to website limitations. To be sure you access all the more than 130 photographs, as well as a short walk-around-and-startup video, please go to our main website: GarageKeptMotors.) "They ended up with the MG, they ended up with the Triumph. But, truth be told, they coveted the Big Healey." George Baxter, an Austin-Healey concours judge quoted in "The Handsome Healey," Hemmings Sports and Exotic, November 2014
George Baxter went on to wax eloquent on the model's appeal: "The Big Healey does have a presence that many people respond to, which is quite evident when we're out and about. It brings smiles and comments from many onlookers, and invites conversation. Oh, and to look down that long, beautiful bonnet and to hear that deep throaty growl emanating from the twin tipped exhaust–it is arguably one of the best notes in the car world." (Note: An excellent sampling of this sound is available on the GarageKeptMotors site by way of the startup video.)
While Mr. Baxter may have been a bit biased, there's no arguing that when it comes to classic British sporting automobiles, the 3000 Mark III "Big Healeys" are among the most highly prized. Low slung, long-hooded, wire-wheeled, and narrow tired, these were cars as at home on the twisty English back roads, as they were at Hollywood movie premiers. Wind-in-your-hair driving is just so... British.
Offered here is a truly exceptional example. Showing just over 95,000 miles, accumulated at a very conservative rate of only just over 1,750 miles per-year on average. This low mileage is evidence of responsible stewardship for this legendary sports car. This is borne out by the condition of every mechanical and cosmetic aspect of the car. The Healey now displays in collector-grade condition.
The car's exterior finish in iconic dark-green paint, characteristic vertical-slat chrome front grille (a piece of automotive artwork if ever there was one), original engine, and wire wheels (with center knock-off spinners) all reflect the care given and investments made in maintenance over the years. The same is true for the brightwork, emblems (more automotive artwork), windshield, and lighting lenses. The black fabric top is without flaws. In similar fashion, the engine bay is concours-ready with all components properly located. As suits most serious collectors, the engine bay is tidy and spotless, but it has not been over-detailed or "enhanced" with the addition of inaccurate shiny bits.
Viewed from underneath, the car's chassis displays near-perfect condition. Properly routed dual exhaust emanating from the 2.9-liter inline 6-cylinder engine, together with the bottom view of a very tidy powertrain and rust-free body, offer more conclusive proof of years-decades, actually-of meticulous care.
Inside, white piping on the leather seats adds visual interest to the overall classic black theme. Carpeting is all nicely kept. The full complement of Smiths surrounded by dark, burled walnut and tasteful touches of chrome across the dash), iconic steering wheel, floor-tunnel-mounted four-speed shifter all retain their classic originality. Tools-including a lead hammer for the knock-off spinners of the wire wheels-are included.
We expect and invite in-person inspection of this beautiful Big Healey. Indeed, the car begs for that sort of close-up look-see. We ask only that you call or email us for an appointment in advance so that we can devote our full attention to you during your visit. (Our showroom is not open to the public.) Meanwhile, the more than 130 high-definition photographs of the car and the short walk-around-and-startup video on the GarageKeptMotors site faithfully represent this Healy Mark III's condition, but feel free to call or email with any questions.
One final bit from Mr. Baxter, the Healy expert, captures the intangible, but significant joy of owning this fine automobile: "The Healey gives (us) the opportunity to be transported to a simpler place and time and allows us to forget the daily stresses of our modern world." Yes indeed.

About Garage Kept Motors
Garage Kept Motors, LLC specializes in classic and specialty online auto sales.
For our consignors, we are the only auto brokers that offer a Transparent Sale Disclosure. This means, when a car sells, we provide an exact copy of the Bill of Sale. We do this so our clients know exactly who bought their car, where it went, and most importantly how much we sold it for. No funny business.
For our buyers, our vehicles are listed on the Internet, with over 100 photos, including undercarriage pictures, and walk-around videos of the vehicles running plus a narrative-style write-up of the cars history and features. Our international exposure allows us to sell cars across the globe, and we sell a majority of them out of state and overseas. We deliver honesty and consistency in our photos and descriptions, a “no surprise” approach, so buyers, both near and far, can invest with confidence sight unseen. We are not a gallery. Vehicles can be seen locally by appointment as potential buyers are given our undivided attention.
